Laser Designation Weapons?

I know you can plant the laser designator when on the US side, but even without it the weapons lock on to vehicles.....is this supposed to be that way? Or is something awry?

The designator can lock on to things other than vehicles, as well as some vehicles that you would otherwise be unable to lock.
For example you can fly around in a littlebird and spot a sniper,then toss a transmitter onto the building he is in...........an apache flys by and gets the signal................whammo hellfire in the arse.

Same with smoke designators except those are used for arty spotting.
I think alot of ppl are getting the hang of it.
In comming releases there will be more uses for this device (cough) F117.
